CallChatSyn vs Cal.com API
Cal.com is an excellent open-source scheduler with a free plan, API v2 and a hosted MCP server. CallChatSyn isn't a replacement: connect your Cal.com account and CallChatSyn reads its open times and books into it, while also answering the questions customers ask before they book.
| CallChatSyn API | Cal.com API | |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduling engine | CallChatSyn's own weekly hours, or your connected Cal.com calendar. | Full scheduler: event types, calendars, team routing, self-hosting. |
| Answer customer questions | Rule-based answers from the business's own FAQs and order data, so it can't invent prices or hours. English and Chinese. | Not part of the API (scheduling only). |
| Set-up for a non-technical owner | Add FAQs and hours in a short dashboard; paste a Cal.com key to connect. | Powerful but many settings; G2 reviewers often mention a learning curve. |
| AI agents (MCP) | Remote MCP server (https://callchatsyn.com/api/mcp), nothing to install, plus an npm/stdio version. | Hosted MCP at mcp.cal.com (OAuth). |
| Price | Free for the first 1,000 businesses (founder offer: up to 100 API calls a day, 2,000 a month), then on the Pro plan ($69.90/mo). | Free for individuals; Teams $12/user/mo (billed yearly). |
Use both
Connect Cal.com in CallChatSyn (Dashboard → Appointments → paste your Cal.com API key). Your API calls, WhatsApp bot and booking page then use Cal.com's open times and create bookings there.
Choose Cal.com API if
- You only need scheduling and want full control of event types, teams and self-hosting.
Choose CallChatSyn if
- You want your bot or agent to answer FAQs and book in one place, on top of the Cal.com calendar the business already uses.
- You want WhatsApp and a booking page for the same business without building them.
